Talmadge Martin, 84, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away at 7:15 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2019 at his home. He was born in Collinwood, Tennessee. Talmadge was retired from the Paducah Sun where he worked in the Advertising Department. He was a member of Southland Baptist Temple and was a founding member of the West Kentucky Gospel Music Association. Talmadge started singing at the age of 16 and sang with The Southland Boys, The Impressions and Rejoice. He was a Duke of Paducah, Kentucky Colonel and was a avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan and he also served in the National Guard.
Talmadge is survived by his wife, Valene Taylor Martin of Paducah, KY; son, Todd Martin and wife Sheila of West Paducah, KY; grandson, Bradley David Martin and wife Candice of Ledbetter, KY; great grandson, Joey Martin; brothers, Jack Martin and Ted Martin both of Sikeston, MO and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Martin; three sisters and two brothers. His parents were James Lonzo Martin and Exie Marie Owen Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Jonathan Goodman and Rev. Jimmy Franks officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
